Safeguarding & Safety Statement

Our commitment

Learning to drive should feel safe, structured and professional. We are committed to creating a calm and respectful learning environment where every learner feels supported and protected. This statement explains how we safeguard learners and maintain high professional standards.

Who we teach

We teach learners aged 17 and above.

We welcome learners who are able to safely drive a standard manual car.

We do not currently provide specially adapted vehicles or hand controls. If you require an adapted vehicle, please contact us to discuss your needs and we will guide you where possible.

We treat all learners fairly and without discrimination.

Professional standards

  • We hold an Enhanced DBS certificate and are registered on the DBS Update Service.

  • We have completed safeguarding training, including Keeping Children Safe in Education.

  • We are committed to maintaining professional standards at all times.

  • We are members of the ADINJC (Approved Driving Instructors National Joint Council).

DBS certification is available to view on request.

In-car safety

For safety and insurance purposes:

  • All lessons are conducted with seatbelts worn unless there is a medical exemption.

  • To maintain a safe and focused learning environment, mobile phones must not be used during lessons.

  • Our vehicles use front, rear and interior dash cameras, including audio recording.

  • Recordings are used for safety, insurance and incident investigation.

  • Recordings are not used for marketing without separate written consent.

  • Footage may be shared with the learner upon request.

  • Access to recordings is restricted and stored securely.

Dashcam recording helps protect both learner and instructor.

Chaperones

Learners are welcome to bring a chaperone to sit in the rear of the vehicle. Chaperones attend in an observational capacity only and must not interfere with instruction or vehicle control.

Communication and boundaries

We maintain clear professional boundaries. Communication is limited to:

  • Email

  • Text message

  • WhatsApp

  • Phone calls

  • Official business social media accounts

  •

Communication hours are between 7am and 8pm.  All communication must relate to driving lessons or business matters.

Personal conversations are not appropriate.

We use official business social media accounts only.

Direct messages may be used for general enquiries, but booking or detailed matters may be redirected to official channels.

Communication must remain professional and appropriate at all times.

Where appropriate, communication may include both the learner and the business to ensure clarity and transparency.

Respect and conduct

We expect:

  • Respectful behavior at all times

  • Safe and responsible conduct during lessons

  • No inappropriate language or behavior

We do not tolerate discrimination, harassment or unsafe conduct.

Safeguarding concerns

If a safeguarding concern arises:

  1. It should first be raised directly with the business.

  2. If not resolved, concerns may be escalated to:

    • ADINJC (professional body)

    • DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency)

    • The Information Commissioner’s Office (for data concerns)

    • The Police (where appropriate)

Any safeguarding concern will be taken seriously and handled professionally.
